Psychedelic Journey Integration

I have held a life-long interest in psychedelics and their power to inform, transform and heal those who choose to journey with them. You may have noticed, in recent years there has been greater press coverage about psychedelics, especially clinical trials, along with individual’s own transformative experiences with various psychedelics. There are several interesting documentaries like Magic Medicine and Michael Pollan’s How to Change your Mind.

For the last two years I have attended the Breaking Convention conference. It’s the largest conference on psychedelics in Europe and is a 3 day academic, multi-disciplinary event bringing together medicine, law, cross cultural knowledge on psychedelics, psychology, anthropology and sociology to name but a few. It’s a fascinating deep dive into the potential of psychedelics for growth and healing.

People are realising that psychedelics, when used safely, may have the power to help ease their suffering, offer alternative perspectives on their life, shift long-term blocks, or give insights into issues being faced. For some, it is a last resort when conventional methods of anti-depressants or other techniques like mindfulness for example, have not worked. (The documentary Magic Medicine explores this subject).

For my integrative counselling diploma, my research paper explored the question, ‘The Psychedelic Psilocybin from Liberty Cap Mushrooms is Helpful in Treating Depression’. Interviewing the individuals for the research was a moving experience. For some, taking this “medicine” was a game changer in helping shift depression. For one, it saved their life. For another it helped to access grief and therefore heal by allowing the grief to be felt when it was otherwise blocked.

Integrating your experience by talking it through with a qualified counsellor, you are more likely to make sense of (and retain the lessons from) a psychedelic journey and use this wisdom to create a meaningful impact on your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

I need to say that psychedelic compounds are currently illegal in the UK, apart from use in clinical trials. I do not offer underground psychedelic facilitated therapeutic journeys.
